SECTION II

EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION

1-4. PURPOSE AND CAPABILITIES

The OE-4/GR Antenna Group is designed to receive, amplify and find the direction from which signals in the frequency range of 0.5 MHz to 1050 MHz are being transmitted. The equipment is man-portable and can be used with various receivers for fixed shelter or portable operation.
1-5. FEATURES

Signals can be monitored aurally by listening with an earphone, visually by watching a pattern on the azimuth indicator, or by using a combination of both aural and visual methods.
1-6. LIMITATIONS

figure 1-2.

a. When using the aural-null method, antenna drive, receiver and control unit must be kept close together. The operator must be must be able to tune the receiver control unit; turn the antenna, using the handwheel at the bottom of the antenna drive and read the scale on the azimuth ring while listening to the signal (fig. 1-2).
