MILITARY COLLECTOR GROUP POST, MAR.6/98 INDEX: FROM MILITARY HOT SHEETS! JOE NEEDS A AB-1241/PRC-104A; SAM'S WANT & TRADE LIST; JOHN ORAHOOD's WANT's, & TRADES's; MEMBERS WRITE; ON THE COMMERCIAL FRONT; HUMOR; *********************************************** The next MYSTERY RADIO to be featured will be the PRC-28, hope to have enough info compiled on it to ask some coherent questions by Saturday, or Monday at the latest. If you have any info on the set AT ALL, please send it in. After the PRC-28, I don't know what the next featured radio will be. Maybe the PRC-88, but at the risk of being biased, I'd prefer that someone else pick it out. The GRC's-13, & -14 would be good ones, but I don't know enough about them to even get started. Maybe it's time for some more aircraft crap! But that ain't my field. The next group Want's, & Trade's will go out Sunday morning on schedule, so have your additions, & updates ready by Saturday night. Batteries, the BC-611 battery project seems to have died gracefully, the cost of these even with a quantity purchase, is excessive(more than twice that of home brew types using better cells), also the quality of the product has been questioned. The owner of the Lithium PRC-25/77 batteries has not answered any messages, either FAX or Email, so this topic seems died also. Ike still has a quantity of the nicad batteries offered previously, from the computer surplus industry. I have a bunch of these, and they can be utilized in any number of our projects. For more info see the Jan 29, & 31 Group Post, or contact Ike at . My list of extra books and manuals is available to send to all those who have requested it. Due to it's size, it must be sent in three parts, so I'd prefer to send it only once. So if you've asked for it, please ask again, if you haven't, get yer name in the hat before Saturday night, so I can send to all interested parties at once. Again, PLEASE include your email address in the signature of all correspondence with me. Dennis *********************************************** FROM MILITARY HOT SHEETS! The following was finally received from "Military Surplus Hot Sheets", I don't know what prompted it after 6 months of trying to get a response from them, but I'd like to think that it was the result of posting the problem here. Thanks Dennis ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Dennis; We are very sorry about the unauthorized ad you are refering to. I (the editor) was unaware of the ad and frankly don't understand how it ever got into the publication to begin with. We charge for all ads to nonsubscribers thus making your unauthorized ad entry even more bizarre since you do not even subscribe. When I was made aware of the problem I thought we killed the ad and to my knowledge it does not appear on our web page at present. I will personnally check the page again to make sure you are not on it. I am very sorry for the confusion and will again look into the matter. Thanks for your patience....... Mike (ed.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- My responce was as follows; What am I to do with this large stack of letters, each containing $2.00 and a request for a catalog that does not now, nor has ever existed???? There's just no end to those pricks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- My husband says I feed him like he's a god; every meal is a burnt offering. -- Rhonda Hansome ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A guy applied to join a nudist club. "Exactly what do you do here?" he asked. "It's quite simple," said the club secretary, "We take off all our clothes and commune with nature." "Cool," said the guy,"...count me in!!!" So he paid his membership fee, took off his gear and strolled off. As he walked along a path, he saw a big sign which read, "Beware of Gays." A little further along he saw another sign which read the same thing "Beware of Gays." He continued walking until he came to a small clearing which had a bronze plaque set in the ground. He bent over to read the plaque and it said, "Sorry,... You've had two warnings!" --------------------------------------------------------------------- At the height of the arms race, the Americans and Russians realized that if they continued in the usual manner they were going to blow up the whole world. One day they sat down and decided to settle the whole dispute with one dog fight. They'd have five years to breed the best fighting dog in the world and which ever side's dog won would be entitled to dominate the world. The losing side would have to lay down its arms. The Russians found the biggest meanest Doberman and Rottweiler in the world and bred them with the biggest meanest Siberian wolves. They selected only the biggest and strongest puppy from each litter, killed his siblings, and gave him all the milk. They used steroids and trainers and after five years came up with the biggest meanest dog the world had ever seen. Its cage needed steel bars that were five inches thick and nobody could get near it. When the day came for the dog fight, the Americans showed up with a strange animal. It was a nine foot long Dachshund. Everyone felt sorry for the Americans because they knew there was no way that this dog could possibly last ten seconds with the Russian dog. When the cages were opened up, the Dachshund came out of it's cage and slowly waddled over towards the Russian dog. The Russian dog snarled and leaped out of it's cage and charged the American dachshund. But, when it got close enough to bite the Dachshund's neck, the Dachshund opened it's mouth and consumed the Russian dog in one bite. There was nothing left at all of the Russian dog. The Russians came up to the Americans shaking their heads in disbelief. "We don't understand how this could have happened. We had our best people working for five years with the meanest Dobermans and Rottweilers in the world and the biggest meanest Siberian wolves." "That's nothing," an American replied. "We had our best plastic surgeons working for five years to make an alligator look like a Dachshund." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Every baby resembles the relative who has the most money. -- Luke McLuke (James Syme Hastings) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Did you hear Clinton gave up the saxophone for a new instrument?
