Our business is interfacing a computer to external equipment.
We specialize in systems for testing Semiconductors, Components, and Subsystems
operating at RF through Microwave frequencies. These test systems
are typically used by manufacturing, engineering or environmental testing
departments.
The major benefit is to save money. A typical system will reduce
the test labor hours by a factor ranging from 10 to 250. Testing
earlier in the production flow will reduce the cost of rejects and may
allow for simpler rework. In some cases a less skilled technician
can be used, reducing the hourly rate.
The elapsed time required for testing may be reduced enough to cause a
significant reduction in span time.
In systems that print serialized data, the data is legible and complete.
In systems that contain limit checking, pass/fail is clear, therefore there
is less chance for human error. It is not unknown for a human inspector
to stamp PASS on data that shows a failure.
In some cases the test time reduction is so great that a parameter that
was tested once on a lot qualification basis can now be tested on a 100%
basis. This may provide a great competitive advantage.
An automated test is more repeatable than manual testing.
Typically an automated system will provide more accurate results than manual
testing.
The computer can be used to process the test results, such as matching
by S#, parameter extraction or SPC.
We like to emphasize the ease of use and error checking features making
our systems user friendly.
In many cases there are intangible benefits that may have more economic
value that those classical benefits that justified the system in the first
place.
