M90 Chemical Agent Detector

Background

Provides stand alone nerve and blister agent detection.

There is a newer version called the M90-D1.

Description

Uses Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS, Wiki)) to determine the presence of toxic vapors.  There is an Americium-241 (Wiki) radioactive source that's used to ionize the incoming vapor so that the drift times of the various compounds can be measured.

Weight with battery 15 pounds.
Dimensions: 11"L x 4"W x 11"H.

Marked inside the M90.
Works in a way similar to an ionization smoke detector, but instead of just measuring the current in a single ionization chamber there are input and output chambers and the current is read in all of them to figure out what chemicals are in the gas.
