MEP-25A 28VDC Military Generator

Background

This generator was used as one of the power sources for the GRC-206 Program Pacer Speak radio set. It's gasoline powered so was in use with vehicles like the M151 MUTT Jeep and prior to the HMMWV Hummer (which is diesel powered). The newer generator set is also diesel powered and much larger and heavier than the MEP-25.

Description

The power comes from is a two cylinder 4-cycle gasoline engine directly coupled to a 28 Volt DC generator.

1-12. Differences Between Engine Models. All four models of the Military Standard are the same except for the
following differences:
a. Models 2A016-1, -2 are equipped with wet air cleaners.
b. Models 2A016-3, -4 have dry air cleaners with
service indicators.
c. Model 2A016-1 is equipped with stop button. Models 2A016-2, -3, -4 are equipped with ignition switches.
Model 2A016-4 has a breakerless ignition system. Models 2A016-1, -2, -3 have a breaker point system with
condenser.
d. Models 2A016-2, -3, -4 are equipped with throttle controls.
