Background

The LORAN-C system, although designed for coastal navigation, can be used as a precision time transfer system.  To do this you need to know when the start of a master station pulse is coincident with an exact UTC second rollover.  This Time Of Coincidence (TOC) can be used as a time transfer pulse. For my local chain (9940) the time between TOCs is  497 seconds.  So if you know the time to better than about 250 seconds then with this receiver you will know it much more accurately, maybe to parts in E-12?

This receiver, made by Aerospace Research, Inc., Boston, Mass, is designed just for working with the LORAN-C TOC.

If you have any information on this receiver email to brooke(at)pacific(dot)net
