Background

This combines the functions of a telephone "Toner" (see Telephone Tool Kit) and a Time Domain Reflectometer, like the Tek 1502, into an inexpensive hand held unit.  The sound of the toner can be changed if the correct pair is shorted at the far end.  This confirms that the correct pair has been identified.  An improvement on the classic Progressive Toner that might fail if many pairs are in close proximity and are imbalanced so there is severe cross talk.

Description

Determines distance to fault on a 2 conductor pair that can be telephone, electrical power, cable television or ham radio coaxial cable, sprinkler wiring, or any 2-conductor cable.
One of the patented ideas is to change the drive impedance in order to see faults that might not show up if the drive impedance matched the cable impedance.

When connected to the coax going to a 1/4 wave ground plane antenna (DC open) it reads 46 feet.
When connected to the OE-254 bi-conical antenna it reads 104 feet and there's a stead beep (it's normally a DC short so that's OK).
